Arnold schwarzenegger

Arnold schwarzenegger

Whenever I hear the phrase, “Mr. Olympia”, Arnold Schwarzenegger quickly comes into my mind. I always see a picture of a big muscular guy in my mind. He is famous by doing some successful movies like the terminator and the expendables. He is also famous for being a filmmaker, writer, businessman, investor, philanthropist, body builder, politician, and activist.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was born on July 30, 1947, near Graz, Austria. Schwarzenegger's childhood was far from ideal life we all know about. He was a son of Gustav, an alcoholic police chief and once was a part of some Nazi’s operations. His father favored Arnold’s brother the most even though he is the one who is more athletic. Arnold didn’t have a good treatment from his father. He always get beaten and yelled at because of minor things or maybe because of nothing. There was also an instance where he pitted his two sons against each other. Arnold brother was killed in a car accident in 1971. Since Arnold’s childhood days, he always dreamt of becoming a professional body builder. But his father mocked Arnold every time he says it. Schwarzenegger remembered, “It was a very uptight feeling at home.” After exactly one year of arnolds brother death, his father followed his brother in 1972. Arnold refused to attend the funeral ceremonies of his father.
Later, Arnold decided to go into movies as an escape from his horrifying childhood. He would meet with Reg Parker, a body builder and star in B-level Hercules movies. The films also make way to propel Arnold’s own obsession with America and he knew that his future waits there. Getting to America was the problem. Schwarzenegger found his solution in Joe Weider. Weider is the man behind the International Federation of Body Building, an organization that sponsored contests such Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia.
Weider loved Schwarzenegger's confidence, his sense of humor, and the prospective he saw in the fresh body builder. Weider's first impression couldn't have been more correct. To sum up, Schwarzenegger won an unparalleled five Mr. Universe titles and six Mr. Olympia crowns throughout his bodybuilding career.
Schwarzenegger, who had settled to the United States in 1968, was of assistance to thrust the sport into the mainstream, concluding in the 1977 documentary, Pumping Iron, which conveys the story of Schwarzenegger trying to defend his Mr. Olympia crown.
Since his first incursion to the domestic movie house back in his hometown, Graz, Arnold had imagined of hitting the jackpot in Hollywood. With his rise to the top of the bodybuilding industry, it was not too long before he would make his entrance to the big screen.
After taking and acting a few minor roles, Schwarzenegger was bestowed for his performance in Stay Hungry 1976 with a Golden Globe Award for Best Newcomer. Furnished with an intense physical strength and humongous size, Schwarzenegger’s performance was a best-fit for action films. He played leading roles in several mainstream 1980s action movies, such as Conan the Barbarian 1982. Schwarzenegger also topped the bill in The Terminator 1984 where he played as a deadly machine from the future. This science-fiction drama was a big hit and germinated two more sequels Terminator 2: Judgment Day 1991 and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines 2003.
He continued his astonishing story off-screen by being wed into the Kennedys by tying the knot with the daughter of Eunice Kennedy Shriver and her spouse R. Sargent Shriver, Maria Owings Shriver.
Schwarzenegger's life story may sound unbelievable, except to those who knew him. Pumping Iron’s producer and director, George Butler, once said in a 2003 interview, "This is a man of bottomless ambition. It's always been there, He sees himself as mystically sent to America." His ambition was exactly what brought him to great heights.
In 2003, Schwarzenegger again exhibited his determination to get to the top when he decided to run and compete for the California governor's race. Schwarzenegger managed to secure a seat in a special election, in a state that was caught up in severe budget anguishes. The freshly designated Republican governor guaranteed to deliver economic stability to this state which he has embraced.
As anticipated, Schwarzenegger conveyed his own exceptional brand of confidence to his new career as a politician. Early in his first term, he addressed the Democrats, "If they don't have the guts, I call them 'girlie-men’. They should go back to the table and fix the budget."
Continuing his career as governor, Schwarzenegger worked to develop the financial situation of the state and defend the environment. In 2006, he acquired his bid for reelection. During the course of his career, Schwarzenegger has accredited former U.S. President Ronald Reagan as his personal inspiration. Recalling his early years of stay in the United States, Schwarzenegger once said, "I became a citizen of the United States when Reagan was president, and he is the first president I voted for as an American citizen. He inspired me and made me even prouder to be a new American."
His second term in office did not run as smoothly as his last term. Schwarzenegger struggled to help the state recover from difficult financial times. He left office in January of 2011. After his political terms, he sought to go back and revive his career in the entertainment industry. In March of same year, Schwarzenegger announced his plans of working with the famous comic book creator Stan Lee on a new animated series inspired by Arnold’s time in office.
Another big event in Arnold’s life happened only a few months after leaving the office. Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, made their decision to separate publicly in May. The news was that Arnold got a member of his family’s household staff pregnant. Arnold and Maria have four children namely, Katherine, Christina, Patrick, and Christopher.
In 2010, Schwarzenegger starred in the film The Expendables alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone. It was kind of a big hit knowing that it was a starstudded movie. A sequel happened in August 2012 wherein he reunited with the film's cast for The Expendables 2. The movie climbed to number one spot at box office just after one week of the film’s premiere. It had a worth of $28.6 million in a week.
Schwarzenegger’s life has been really a roller coaster of a ride. Starting from the bottom during his childhood days and becoming Mr. Olympia and Mr. Universe and becoming the governor of California for two consecutive terms, Arnold has really become the person he is now by his will. He is not perfect but we can say he has a heck of a life. Many people still look up to him as inspiration especially body builders. His life is really a great one to know of. “Hasta La Vista, baby”.
